About Marybeth

Marybeth Connelly was elected to Falls Church City Council in 2013 and 2017. During her terms on Council she has been an advocate for community-building, strong schools and economic progress. She is seeking another term as a City Council member because she wants to ensure that the City of Falls Church continues to be a thriving community, dedicated to educating our children and providing a place that people of all ages, races and incomes can call home.

Marybeth believes that the City of Falls Church is a great place to live, work, go to school, shop and raise a family. She ran for office because she wanted to ensure that those who are elected are the same people who are involved in the City as volunteers and active community members.

Marybeth and her husband, Michael, moved to Falls Church in 1995. Their three children, Brian, Andrew and Julie, are Falls Church City Public Schools "lifers".  Their dog, Rudy, thinks that he owns many streets and paths in their neighborhood.

She has been employed as Falls Church City Public School Community Outreach Director since 2005, connecting school, business and non-profit community to strengthen all parts of the community.

She was a co-founder of the 2017 Falls Church Women's History Walk, a community event that combined historical information about female leaders in Falls Church, with an opportunity take a walk, and enjoy a community gathering. 

Marybeth earned M.Ed. from University of Virginia and B.A. from Villanova University.

Her volunteer commitments in the past 25 years include Falls Church Kiwanis Little League, Girls Scouts,  St. James PREP teacher, Village Preservation & Improvement Society Attic Treasures Sale, Falls Church Education Foundation, Falls Church Elementary PTA, MEHMS PTA, GMHS PTSA, Athletic Boosters and Band Boosters.

She is a member of AAUW, League of Women Voters, Village Preservation & Improvement Society, Citizens for a Better City.

She serves as Vice-Mayor and as Council liaison to Human Services Advisory Commission, Falls Church Arts and Humanities Council,  Mary Riley Styles Public LIbrary Board of Trustees.

She is on the Budget & Finance Committee and the Government Operations Committee.
